Images of final re-envision model
I continued to keep Gehry's theme of abract geometry. The stairs were leveled and supported by the walls. the inspiration came from 'the floating staircast' designed by Jordi Vayreda. Not only was the stairs seemingly looked like it was hovering ontop of each other by the notion that the building to is hovering over water.

The redesign of Frank Gehry’s Vitra Design Museum was inspired by Leaonardo’s water cube. My intial approach in my reinvision of this architectural piece was to change its main architectural purpose as a museum into a five star restaurant. The original design of the museum seemed to vocus more on the area and form. I believed that the building lacked lighting in some areas and also lacked in character.
My intial idea in redesigning this architectural piece was to change its purpose and location. I wanted to introduce a different approach, from the lack of lighting the building gave and its character. I wanted incorporate a different light scheme and by that I decided to change the materials originally used in the design of this building. Inspired by leonardo’s water cube, I had incorporated glass walls around the building so that it would encompass more light within it, although I decided that that there are parts of the building I felt that it was unnecessary to add glass textures such as the chef’s kitchen as well as the bathrooms and our VIP access rooms. The glass panels will have different types of transparencies and colour to allow the restaurant to glow at night over the harbour side.
I felt that the only thing that held back its character was the materials used on the museum. The plain and dull white concrete walls did not do justice. I had originally replaced the plain concrete slab walls into a material that best blends in with its surroundings and the glass texture. I decided that having all the walls structured by glass panels will not blend well with having one part of the building with marble concrete slabs, so I thought about a different approach and added another layer with the glass materials. This effect allowed the restaurant to blend in with the surrounding environment and to contrast with the ripples in the water, this is where my main inspiration to Leonardo’s glass cube came from. The exterior will consists of glass panels with ripple-like shapes surrounding the building to hold together its structure.
People go to restaurants for all sorts of occasions; I wanted the audience to enjoy not only the food but to enjoy the architectural design of the restaurant and to make them feel like they’ve entered another world. The ability to change the audience’s emotion is an aspect an architect can have.
I decided to continue with Frank Gehry’s theme by adding abstract element to my model. It allowed me to change its purpose and function from its original context as a museum. The overall redesign of the museum was mainly inspired by Leonardo’s glass cube. It’s design will continue to keep Gehry’s abstract geometry. The restaurant will be recloacted in the heart of the city, on the harbour. The visitors will be able to see the ocean as well as the skyline city. Originally I wanted to the building to seemingly hover on water and reflect upon the water.
Renders of re-envision model
REFLECTION:
Most of my exterior designs came from Leonardo’s glass cube, although I continued to keep Gehry’s theme of Deconstructivism. His Architectural practice is more non-traditional and abstract. Originally I wanted to redesign the building that is clearly out of the ordinary but still incorporating Gehry’s theme and Ideas. I thought about materials used for the model as well as the shape and geometrical form of the building and how it will structured.
One f the main focus for my re-envision was its relocation. My initial thought of the buildings relocation was beside the harbour, over looking the city skyline, yet surrounded by nature and the ocean. The main ideas was the import my model into crisis, although there were problems importing my model that made it much more difficult, especially importing my vray materials into the game. Also, I thought much about the redesign of the building and thought about how it will be situated along the harbour side. I wanted the building seemingly floating on the water whilst glowing on the water banks.
The exterior design of my building was mainly inspired by the glass cube, I thought of applying the same concept but in a different way. I thought about the theme and the context of the building. As it was a seafood restaurant I wanted to apply a much more contemporary theme whilst having Gehry’s idea of Deconstuctivism. (DeCon Architecture). The white extruded lined over layering on the glass panels represented the ripples of the water as appose to the restaurant being seafood. I also thought about Gehry’s Fish dance restaurant in Kobe and related his upon this type of theme.

Materials/Textures
There were a number of different glass textures to choose from, and the following textures were ones I would like to apply to my model. A few of the glass materials chosen arent as much translucent as the others, this is because i wanted to create a barrier or a sense of privacy, such as the performers room and the bathroom.

Re- envision of the Vitra Design Museum
My initial idea in redesigning the museum was to transform the function of the building into a five star restaurant. I intend to relocate the building nearby the harbour surrounded by the natural environment, alongside the water so that the building may appear to be floating.
Inspired by 3deluxe's The Leonardo glass cube and Kotaro Ide / ARTechnic architects’s Shell house, the main materials used would be timber and glass frames to blend in with its surroundings.
Like the Shell house I have intentions of restructuring parts of the museum into a round complex structure rather than its basic geometrical square like shapes. Inspired by Gehry's Hotel Marques De Riscal, I intend to alter some parts of the building structural elements into a more abstract form of architecture.
My intentions for this buildings relocation was beside the harbour overlooking the city.
The Leonardo glass cube designed by 3deluxe
I wanted my model to glimmer from the exterior and reflect upon the water in the harbour. Whilst the building seemingly looks lik
The Vitra model was plain and bold and the idea for it tool look much more abstract then it is was something I looked further into. The way the from this building is what inspires me to add onto my building.
